Robo Cup
Robo Cup is a football world cup for robots. Many engineers from many different countries try to build the best robot team and hope to win the cup.
There is a Robo Cup every year. The organisers hope the yearly competitions will help speed up how much engineers can improve robots. The aim is for a life-size robot team to beat the human world cup winners by 2050.
There are different world cup tournaments. There is a world cup for small robot teams and a world cup for life-size robot teams. The small robots are autonomous. This means they can make their own decisions.

Other robot tournaments are happening at the same time as the football tournaments:
- In the Rescue Cup robots try to help rescue people.
- In the At Home Cup robots try to do household chores to help elderly people and the disabled.
- In the Junior Robo Cup children create their own robots. These robots must dance, play football and even work in rescue missions.

Germany has its own robot cup tournament. German universities play each other to see who will win the German cup. The robots look identical but each team has programmed their robots differently.
