McLaren MP4-X concept car
McLaren have designed a racing car that could exist in the next few years. The technology that they will use is all real but has only just been designed and will need more time before it's perfect.
It's a hybrid — like the newest generation of F1 cars — designed to use alternatives to petrol. Also it has an enclosed cabin to protect the driver. Formula 1 is thinking about introducing enclosed cabins to improve driver safety.

Jeep Hurricane
What could be better than a powerful engine in a Jeep? How about two engines in a Jeep? The Jeep Hurricane has one engine at the front and another at the rear.
But that's not all. The Jeep Hurricane has an amazing steering system that can steer its four wheels independently. This means that each wheel can turn separately from the others. So the Hurricane can point its wheels in such a way that it can turn around on the same spot.
The Hurricane was revealed to the world in 2005 at the Detroit motor show. It has stayed a concept car and will not be built for the public because its steering system costs too much.
A young Belgian man has built his own Jeep Hurricane from Lego. This is very complicated so he must have many spent years practising building Lego.
The Brütsch Mopetta
The Mopetta was built in the 1950s in Germany by Egon Brütsch. Only 14 were built and only 5 survive today. It has 3 wheels and an engine you normally find on a moped. The engine pokes out a little on the left side. As moped engines are far less powerful than car engines, the Mopetta's top speed is only 28 mph. It doesn't have a door; you have to lower yourself in.
The Isetta - an iconic bubble car
The Isetta was built in the 1950s. It is a bubble car that is shaped like an egg. It has a single door which is the entire front part of the car. If the car had a crash, the driver and passenger had to get out through the sunroof. The steering wheel and dashboard swings out with the single door to make it easier to get in and out.
Messerschmitt KR200
It is a three-wheeled bubble car with a bubble-shaped canopy that opens at the side. It was made in the 1950s.
In 1955 a modified car was built to drive fast over 24 hours so that company could show the world that their cars wouldn't break down easily. It drove at 64 mph over 24 hours which set a new record for cars in its class.

Sun-powered car
This car is called the Sunswift Eve. Panels, which turn sunlight into electricity, cover the car's bonnet, roof and back.
DeltaWing racing car
It is made by the DeltaWing Racing team. The car looks totally different to other cars because its two front wheels are close together. These wheels are much thinner than normal car wheels.
It is called DeltaWing because it looks a bit like a 'delta wing', which is a type of triangular wing on a plane. Concorde is an example of a plane with a delta wing. The car's design makes it better at moving through the air than normal cars. So it's faster than normal cars with the same engine. Or you could say it is better aerodynamically. Aerodynamics is the way air moves around things.
Katherine Legge is one of the drivers for the DeltaWing Racing team. She first drove the car in a race in America in May 2014.
The first DeltaWing car had a Nissan engine. The DeltaWing car now uses a Mazda engine.
Underwater car
Rinspeed makes a car that drives on land and goes underwater. As it can travel on land and in the water it is amphibian. The car is roofless, so people in the car need air tanks to breathe air underwater.
